...is turning mainstream!!! Ughhhh. Even Magic and RX are playing Fireflies! WTF. They only played the song a few weeks back but Jam has been playing it since August. Jam FTW!
It's fine that a lot of people like Owl City since it's good for the artist, but it's annoying to see people post lyrics or titles on Facebook when you know that it's not their kind of music. Okaaaay cynicism hahaha.

Shopping!!!
Okay wala na akong pera because my allowance for the sem went to photocopies and food. As in ang gastos ko sa food. Wala na akong peraaaa.
From our overnight Murder Mystery Party in Alabang, I went to the City Hall to register. Shempre asa naman ako, eh mga 11am na yun. So I checked out how long the line was then decided to go to the mall since I really really really wanted to buy shoes. Shoes > clothes right now. When I went to Galleria with my mom and sister the other day, I saw a nice pair of wedge sandals at Celine. And I couldn't get it out of my head. I REALLY WANTED TO BUY THAT PAIR. So I did! Therefore, wala na akong pera ngayon. Huuu I miss shopping. But I did fulfill my promise of not buying any clothing item for a sem! Ay erhm, well hindi pala. Kasi I bought a UP Law jacket pero mura lang naman yun. But besides that jacket, I didn't buy anything else. It helped that I didn't have time to go the mall. Malapit na ulit yun mangyari.
I actually am excited for the next semester. I promise to do better!

The Feeling - Rose |
] |
Almost 4 months since law school started and it feels like a year which went by in a month, meaning a lot happened so fast. It's nearing the end of the year, the TV news programs are already counting the days before Christmas.
All I want for Christmas is... Can't think of any material thing right now. Law school has made me forget about material things. The last time I shopped was summer when I was in San Francisco. Now, I'd rather sleep or study. Even eating annoys me. I hate it when they wake me up to eat dinner. Can't they see that I'd rather sleep? And I now realize that I really like coffee. My body is starting to crave for coffee. It's starting to look for coffee every day.
And it doesn't help that I can't keep track of the days. Like, I don't know that it's been months since I saw my HS friends.
But I think I'm inclined on doing this for the next couple of years. Will it be worth it?

Globalization is not good for our country.
As Sonny Africa said this afternoon (He's from IBON Foundation, Inc. He was invited by our Legal History professor to talk about Filipino struggle.), "Free market is not second-best, it is first-worst." For our country, that is.
Why?
Our country does not have the comparative advantage. We don't have the technology nor the skill to compete with the big countries. We are only being used by these first-world countries as a surplus market. Imports are even cheaper than our own products. It is them who are benefited by globalization not us.
As we see in history, these big countries did not have a free trade market. They were able to develop their own industries. Foreign investors did not use their land nor their people. These countries (Japan, the US, China, France, etc.) also had protectionist policies. Protectionist policies are not all bad. There is a need to protect your country's natural resources. Trade policies must therefore be modified. The Philippine government must not think of the foreign investors all the time. It's time to think about your own country!
Now on to political things I'd like to tackle.
The Filipino people united against Marcos' Martial Law and Estrada's corruption. But what has happened after? WE FORGAVE THESE PEOPLE. We forgave the people who stole from us and caused misery to ourselves and our countrymen. Imelda is still running around with her thousandth pair of shoes (okay fine exaggerated na thousandth, but you get what I mean). Estrada is even pardoned. WTF. YOU ALL SHOULD BE BEHIND BARS.
There is a need for national consciousness. There is a need for a national identity. Man is a selfish person; but we cannot think of ourselves all the time.
I want to say more but it's 10:45pm and I haven't studied a single thing for my classes tomorrow. And pardon if it's not very coherent. I'm sort of saying stuff at the top of my head. Ma'am Avena, you have instilled something in me haha. Ah. I like this. Now here's a reason to like law school.
